The city of love, Venice was just beautiful.
After a week on the boat, I was ready for dry land… but not enough to miss out on this must see location.
I walked from one side to the other our first day there (seriously, be ready to walk your way through Europe… there’s no other way to do it!). It’s the kind of thing that happens in Europe, following street signs and maps to get you places. I literally followed the sign to “St Mark’s Square” for 3 hours thinking, “gosh, it’s GOT to be around the next corner.” When I finally made it, we went inside and even payed the extra 2 euro to go up top. Well worth it, you get a nice panoramic view of the city and the venetian canal.
Laura, my travel buddy, and I then proceeded to stumble down a street, in search of sustenance, and found a quaint little place where we were treated to free wine. I then had the gnocchi (a favourite in Italy) and I’ve got to say – I now know what everyone’s raving about. Ain’t Australia got nuttin’ on Europe.
Definitely put this on your Europe bucket list.
